Pamela Geller and the Counter-jihad movement






Pamela Geller is an American political activist and commentator. She is a prominent activist for the Counter-jihad movement in the United States, known for her opposition to the proposed construction of an Islamic community center and mosque near the former site of the World Trade Center, and sponsorship of the "Draw the Prophet" cartoon contest in Garland, Texas. She says her blogging and campaigns in the United States are against what she terms "creeping Sharia" in the country. Multiple groups have described her as Islamophobic.

She is currently the president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative which she co-founded with Robert Spencer.

Geller is the third of four sisters born to the Jewish family of Reuben, a textile manufacturer, and Lillian Geller.
